The Francis J. Darigan, Jr. Scholarship Fund is a newly established fund which was initiated and defined by an anonymous donor in 2016. The original donation has since been matched by additional generous donations and it continues to grow. The first scholarships from this fund were presented at the 2017 Neil J. Houston, Jr. Memorial Awards Presentation.
The fund was established with the goal of presenting two $500 scholarships each year.
One $500 scholarship will be presented to a high school student
One $500 scholarship to a second-year student enrolled in the Roger Williams University School of Law.
Each recipient must be a native Rhode Islander and must have demonstrated an interest in social justice. The scholarship is named for one of Rhode Island Superior Court’s greatest arbiters. Justice Assistance will honor Judge Francis J. Darigan Jr.’s legacy by recognizing in these young students the integrity and dedication that he embodies.
